's our fourth trip to the USA . and especially here in Durham in North Carolina . There 'a magnetic attraction between me and this place, a kind of affinity ' character . No crowds, no traffic, a precious silence and calm e. .. so much forest. off the plane we were greeted by the typical damp heat of summer Durham, and, above all, the warmth of our loving friends.
time you collect your luggage and Gaby and Sandra took us to dinner at Brixx , where according to the Italians who live here, eat the best pizza in the city '. It was about 20:30.
Then, finally, a well-deserved rest after more than 24 hours after our departure from Lecce and I do not know how many months of stress behind!
The next morning, while respecting the ... tradition, we ran up to Brueggers Ninth Street, for a hearty breakfast based Bagels, our favorite American breakfast. This time, needing an extra sugar to recover from the trip, I opted for a Cinnamon Sugar Bagel, one flavored with cinnamon.
pure entertainment.
Here are 3 guys joined us Colombians, friends of Gaby: Miguel, his wife Dalia (this name we like it!) And her sister Lina . People really interesting and very pleasant to listen to (even though our English is pretty rusty).
After breakfast, a quick trip to the Farmers Market Central Park where Miguel has bought a kind of a big plastic bin to retrieve, filter and store rainwater ( very ecological! but it reminds me so much the " ozze " traditional agricultural Salento). Then we had lunch together at the home of Gaby. The boys have prepared the Colombian Gazpacho, excellent cold soup made from tomatoes, olive oil, cucumbers, and a certain amount 'invisible but insidious subtly garlic, whose flavor has been with us for hours.
globalizing!
Hard to believe, but to push Miguel, which apparently focuses on art in the afternoon we went to the Nasher Museum to follow a sort of lecture on the role of art in social and political demands of community 'in Latin America. You can imagine my thoughts!
Actually I did not understand almost nothing, apart from the fact that one of the speakers kept saying " to latin / latin or " sequence in female / male, every time had to use the adjective " latino ".
Ho intuito che doveva trattarsi di qualche " poco-pratico-ma-rivendicativo " accorgimento di tipo ultrafemminista . E infatti cosi' era!!!
Bislacc a /bislacc o , you know !
one that 'was semi-obscure the sense, but I suppose that depends essentially on my ignorance of modern art ....
What can we do?!
What can we do?!
The true work of art but 'I consumed at dinner: Burger Bison (bison burgers) and cold birrazza from Ted's Montana Grill . Guys, this is' the America of my dreams! And with this tasty meal, we rifesteggiato our arrival and greeted Lina, leaving for Colombia. Once home we repulsed the deserved rest, tired but satisfied!
I'm a lazy boy!
Well, not bad, as the beginning not!
